THE PIONEERS IN WATCHMAKING

Unique innovation creates new standards
In its uncompromising quest for absolute mechanical perfection, Eterna has developed pioneering solutions for centuries-old watchmaking challenges in the course of it more than 150-year brand history and thus set new standards time and again. With the invention in 1948 of the Eterna-Matic, the ball-bearing mounted rotor system that reduces friction, Eterna revolutionised automatic movements. Further milestones include the recently created Eterna Spherodrive ball-bearing mounted barrel rotor system, which has established hitherto unachievable standards with regard to quality and longevity in mechanical movements, as well as the Calibre 39. Thanks to its ingenious modular design, this basic movement can be used to create 88 different movement versions.

For years Eterna Movement has focused its efforts on enlarging both its manufacturing technologies as well as its portfolio of movements. Thanks to the modularity of the calibre 39, the same base movement can give rise to a total of 88 different movement versions. This, once again, is a testament to Eterna Movement‘s ability to further refine past achievements in the development of watch movements with its inventiveness and precision work.

In 2006 the Eterna watchmakers decided to rework the calibre 1505 dating from 1974 in order to create the current calibre 3030. The advanced, cambered movement served as the basis. Only a minimal number of details were changed with the help of state-of-the-art technologies and a large date display with two discs was added.
